I got it checked with Acer service center. They agreed that it is because of over tightened screws (which is simply poor assembling from Acer), but didn't replace it as it is a physical damage.Now after 1 year, the battery is also dead. Apart from the looks, there is nothing good about this laptop. A defenitely NO NO, unless you need it for your showcase. I've brought it to school and been semi-rough with it and I have only had one problem, the power cord. In the two years I've had it I've had to replace the power cord twice. Both times the part of the cord directly under the place where you plug it into the computer has overheated and melted the plastic around it. Luckily it takes a pretty common cord which is under ten dollars. Overall spending ten dollars a year to service my laptop has not been a big problem for me. I love that it has a finger scanner and the music controls on the left hand side have also been very convenient. The speakers are passable, not really extraordinary, the screen is a good size and I play a few games on it that all run great, the Sims 3 and Guild Wars mostly. Also the wireless card has always worked really well. I can connect to my router from a much greater distance than several of my friends laptops. It has gone through 12 months of iraq, and been dropped and smashed numerous times, but still works. Pros; good screen quality, loud built in speakers, lots of USB ports. Cons; one of the keys on the keyboard, the "R" pops off time to time. The whole keyboard in general feels cheap. The extra options on this model i could have done without, the little entertainment spot on the side of the key board is good but i dont ever use it. The finger scanner seems like something that is bound to go wrong so i dont use that either. The webcam works great and gives a good picture. All hardware ran as it was supposed to. I bought the computer for around 500 hundred at the end of 2008, and i would probably pay that for the same one in 2010, due to the good use and beating i put into it. |
